TechnipFMC has once again been recognized for technical excellence at one of the offshore industry’s leading conferences, receiving the Best Paper Award in the Subsea Technology Symposium at OMAE 2026.
The award-winning paper, “Flexible Riser Dropped-Object Impact Resistance,” focuses on a critical aspect of flexible riser design: understanding how risers behave under dropped-object impact conditions in offshore environments where reliability is essential.
The work combines advanced finite element modeling with large-scale physical testing to better understand how flexible pipe structures respond under extreme loading scenarios. The balance between detailed simulation and practical validation was a key factor in the paper’s recognition.
This marks the third consecutive year TechnipFMC has received this distinction at OMAE, reflecting the consistency of the company’s engineering expertise and its continued investment in subsea innovation.
“Receiving this recognition for the third year in a row is something the team is incredibly proud of,” said Adam Machnik, Technology Expert – Software & FEA / Flexible & Umbilicals Engineering. “It speaks to the depth of technical knowledge across our flexible pipe and subsea engineering groups, and to the collaborative way we work to solve complex industry challenges.”
The achievement also highlights the close collaboration between teams across TechnipFMC and with client partners throughout the development of the study.
At its core, the recognition reflects what continues to drive TechnipFMC’s approach to engineering: combining technical rigor, operational experience, and innovation to deliver solutions that perform in the real world.
