Technip has been awarded a contract by Silicium de Provence (Silpro) for the preliminary studies pertaining to a polycrystalline silicon production plant dedicated to photovoltaic applications. The plant will be located in Saint-Auban in southeastern France and will have an initial production capacity of 2,500 tons per year of ultra pure silicon for use in the fabrication of solar panels.
Technip’s operations and engineering centers in Lyon and Paris will carry out the execution of this contract, which covers:
drawing up the plant’s process book,
devising the plant’s master plan integrating the possibility of subsequent capacity expansion, and
project organization and scheduling.
The plant, which represents a total investment of €245 million, will create some 200 local jobs and will set the foundations of a solar energy industry in the region.
