Technip awarded contract for a Subsea project in Canada

Technip was awarded a contract by Hibernia Management and Development Company Ltd. (HMDC) for the Hibernia Southern Extension project. This project is part of the continuing <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Hibernia field development. Hibernia is located on the Grand Banks approximately 315 kilometers offshore Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, in approximately 90 meters of water.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

 

The contract covers engineering, procurement and construction services for flexible flowline(1) and steel tube umbilical(2), together with the installation of all subsea equipment.

 

Technip’s operating center in St. John’s, Canada will execute the contract.

(1) Flowline: a pipe, laid on the seabed, which allows the transportation of oil/gas production or injection of fluids. Its length can vary from a few hundred meters to several kilometers.

 

(2) Umbilical: an assembly of steel tubes which can also include electrical cables or optic fibres used to control subsea structures from a platform or a vessel.
